To provide the greater Metropolitan Detroit area with a church geared to be a center for Christian education, unsurpassed in quality; setting an environment where people can grow to their full potential in Christ.

To prepare the whole man for Kingdom living, both on earth and in heaven. Providing Spiritual Truths based upon Biblical principles that will reveal unto every man his God given purpose.
Gospel Truth Tabernacle of God is all about people just like you. We are diverse, multi-cultural, young and old, rich and not so rich, married and single. But we all have something in common: we love Jesus with all our heart, we believe His Word and we want everyone to know just how good He is. Our worship is passionate and our messages are always challenging, relevant, and never boring.
Whether you're single, married, single again, with or without children, no matter where you've been or what you've done, we invite you to come and experience true worship. Need not be concerned about attire, Jesus loves you just the way you are! Our fellowship is made up of less than complete people, just like you, following after Jesus. Come quickly because this is the place where hurts are healed, needs are met, and dreams become reality.

Our Story
Gospel Truth Tabernacle of God (G.T.T.) was founded in February, 1984 by Mother Teveta Kirkwood. With the aide of her two sons, Donald L. and Clinton Jr., and her brother, Felton Williams Jr., G.T.T. was incorporated in the State of Michigan. Following the leading of the Holy Spirit, Mother Kirkwood appointed her husband, Elder Clinton W. Kirkwood Sr. as the first pastor and together they began worship service in the basement of their home.
The first member to join G.T.T. was Sister Ola Thomas, the sister of Mother Kirkwood. In less than a year, the Lord moved the church out of the basement to the Brightmoor Recreation Center in Detroit, Michigan. There, many more had begun to join the fellowship. As a result of preaching the word of God and continuing in prayer, the church was blessed to move to their present sanctuary, located at 5169 Ogden Street, the corner of McGraw in Detroit, Michigan.
In 1999, G.T.T. was blessed to celebrate a Mortgage Burning Service. In 2000, Elder Kirkwood was ordained a “Bishop” by the Apostle Henry Brownlee, Bishop Ronald Hall, Bishop Henry Wayne White, Bishop Earl Fields, and Elder Maurice “Ted” Beard. Also during this time, the Lord providentially led Bishop Kirkwood’s second son, Donald, to the ministry. In August, 2002, Bishop Kirkwood due to illness had to retire from his position of pastor.
THE BIBLE
We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired, inherent and the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

THE GODHEAD
We fully believe in the mystery of the Godhead, understanding the term to mean all of the fullness of God. There is one God, whose name is Jesus. He revealed Himself in three manifestations: Father in creation, Son in redemption and Holy Spirit in regeneration (salvation). We believe that at the final consummation of all things there will be one God, and that will be our Lord Jesus Christ.

JESUS CHRIST
We believe that Jesus was 100% human and 100% divine. We believe that He was Mary’s son and Mary’s God, Creator and creature, God manifest in the flesh; that the flesh of Jesus was the same as ours, with the exception that it had no sin; that Jesus was the Eternal Father made visible, apart from whom there is no God.
SALVATION
We believe that salvation is gained by one believing on Jesus, repenting of their sins, being baptized in water in the name of Jesus, and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit as evidenced by speaking in other tongues.

FUTURE EVENTS
We believe the next scheduled prophetic event to occur is the rapture of the church wherein the dead in Christ will be resurrected and caught up in the air, together with those who are alive, to meet Jesus. Following the rapture, the antichrist will be revealed, commencing the seven year tribulation period. We also believe in the millenial reign/thousand years of peace, the great white throne of judgement, the new heaven and new earth, and eternity.
THE CHURCH
The true Church is composed of all such persons, who through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ of which He is the head. Furthermore, the church of God is not racially binary, instead it is made up of all races, creeds and colors. G.T.T. is not a black church, we are a universal church.
DISCRIMINATION
We believe that in Christ, there is neither Jew nor Greek, bond or free, man or woman. To this end, we stand firmly against every form of discrimination. We believe that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and that sinful state necessitated a need for a savior. Thus salvation is available to all.
MARRIAGE AFFIRMATION
We affirm that marriage is an institution established by God Himself from the beginning of man’s day, commencing with the first marriage between Adam and Eve. Marriage is both a sacred covenant and legal arrangement, and is to be between one man and one woman.
